TA Requirements

Note to Students interested in applying for a TA position in the Comparative Arts & Letters Department:

In order to qualify as a Teaching Assistant, the student MUST have completed the course, attended class regularly and received a high grade.

This department hires TA’s for the following courses:

* 1.Art History 201 / World Civilization to 1500

* 2. Art History 202 / World Civilization Since 1500

* 3. Art History 355 / Contemporary Art

4. Classic Civilization 110 / Introduction to Greek and Roman Literature

5. Classic Civilization 201 / The Classical Tradition 1: Antiquity to the Renaissance

6. Classic Civilization 202 / The Classical Tradition 2: Reformation to Modern

7. Classic Civilization 241 / Greek and Roman Mythology

8. Classic Civilization 246 / Golden Age of Rome

9. Comparative Literature 211 & 212 / Civilization: World Literature 1 & 2

10. Interdisciplinary Humanities 101 / An Introduction to the Humanities

11. Interdisciplinary Humanities 201 / Western Humanities 1: Antiquity to Renaissance

12. Interdisciplinary Humanities 202 / Western Humanities 2: Renaissance to the Present

13. Interdisciplinary Humanities 241 / Humanities of East Asia

14. Interdisciplinary Humanities 260 / Humanities of Latin America

15. Interdisciplinary Humanities 261 / Intro to American Humanities 1:  Colonial Era to 1876

16. Interdisciplinary Humanities 262 / Intro American Humanities 2: 1877 to the Present

*TA applicants for ARTHC classes must have completed both ARTHC 201 & 202 and have taken at least three upper division art history courses (300 level or higher) to qualify.

The surest route to successfully landing a Teaching Assistant position is to make contact with the professor with whom you would like to work.  When a professor requests a particular student to be their TA, that student is given precedence over all other applicants.
